The Gas Detector Meter GX-3R, manufactured by Riken Keiki Japan, is a crucial device used for detecting and measuring gas concentrations in various environments. As part of its ongoing efforts, IESCO (Islamabad Electric Supply Co Ltd) is taking every precautionary measure to ensure the safety and efficiency of its line staff. In view of the safety of its line staff who work in underground manholes, IESCO took the initiative to procure portable personal safety gas detectors to prevent any potential human life danger to its staff. Due to the continuous load running through the underground cables, there is a possibility of obtaining gases like CO in manholes. Furthermore, due to any faults or in the case of burning cables such gases may be produced, which could cause a danger to human life working in that area. With the use of proper equipment such as GX-3R, such incidents can be avoided easily.
A comprehensive training session regarding the proper use of our offered model GX-3R was conducted at IESCO regional training center zero-point IESCO Islamabad after completion of supply by our H& S advisor Mr. Muhammad Amjad Sarwar along with AD Safety IESCO Mr. Muhammad Israr. Master trainers from Islamabad and Rawalpindi circles along with line staff attended the training.
Training Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants were able to:
- Understand the principles of gas detection and the features of the GX-3R Gas Detector Meter.
- Operate the GX-3R correctly, including calibration, zero-point adjustment, and span adjustment.
- Identify and respond to alarm conditions, including high and low gas concentrations.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing sensors and batteries.
- Troubleshoot common issues with the GX-3R, including error messages and sensor faults.
